ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN: HAVE YOU SEEN HER?

Who is she? Have you seen her? Do you know her? She is an Artist from Chicago, using the media against it's self. Instead, she is using the media and her self-created logo and promotional campaign to market herself as an Artist to make it in these economic times.

Finished at last

A Socialist Worker Public Forum:

A Socialist Worker Public Forum:

Saturday, April 4th, 6pm
Old St. Paul Church,
2215 W North Ave.

As debate rages in the mainstream media over bailouts, executive pay, and the economy, people are once again turning to the ideas of socialism to understand the roots of the crisis and what can be done. Anyone interested in fighting for a real alternative to the greed, corruption and poverty of capitalism should be at this public forum. Veteran socialist Kirstin Roberts will take on the right-wing slander against socialism and point the way toward a struggle for genuine liberation and socialism.

Stay afterward for a party, drinks and music with other activists and socialists from around Chicago!

$5 suggested donation, but NOBODY will be turned away for lack of funds.

Artists, need CASH?? Do you have surplus ART?? Clear out your studios and make way for new work by selling your outdated, rejected, and remaindered art for cash in the Seeking Art Bargain Basement!

Seeking Art Bargain Basement:  The first bargain basements appeared in 1909 as an effort by department stores to move unwanted merchandise.  Selling surplus goods at discounted prices cleared the way for new products, catered to the consumer's desire to acquire hidden gems for less than their worth, and allowed lower-income shoppers to participate in the trendy new world of mass-produced goods.  The Seeking Art Bargain Basement is applying the same economic and psychological principles to the art market by uniting artist's leftover work with shoppers seeking affordable art. Come celebrate the 100th anniversary of the bargain basement by exploring the model of recycling unwanted objects and challenging the notion that certain items are only for the wealthy.

Details: All work will be accepted, including sketches, old prints, works-in-progress, and multiple submissions by one artist.  Work may be priced at any amount under $100, with all money going to the artist.  To submit, include your name, the piece's name, name of series or project (if applicable), date made, and price, along with your piece and contact info or a SASE for the return of unsold work. Dream!

Do you have dreams? Hopes? What dream do you hope to make come true? How do you work to make your dreams come true?

To accomplish one¡¯s goals, one has to dream. Dreaming is an enjoyable exercise for people because it brings pleasure with little monetary cost. Often, an artist will utilize current technology to turn their ideas into reality. [prak-sis] challenges you to bring to this show with art that will stir the hopes and dreams of its viewers and/or the current technology with surrealistic and futuristic art. If you are an artist who dreams someday to make a historical masterpiece of art, you may be qualified. If you use hopes and dreams or just dream as subject matter in your painting, installation, performance, music, sculpture, video, and more, you may also be qualified. If you are dreaming to use high technology in art, this show will be the right one for you. We will have three commercial spaces on Western Avenue(between Noth and Milwakee) for this show. Pictures of the site will be posted on the 20th of March.

The show will be on April 25th, 2009.

We think it¡¯s OK to have the secret dream to use art to conquer the world.

To apply for this show, e-mail your resume, artist statement, and 5 images of your work to entry@prak-sis.org. If you are time-based artist, send 10 still images or/and a link to your website for video work.
An application fee of $5.00 payable by check can be made to ¡°prak-sis caa¡± and should be mailed to 1513 N. Western Ave #106 Chicago, IL 60622. If you have any questions regarding the applications or art show, you can reach us at info@prak-sis.org
Application fee and entry fee helps [prak-sis]caa to host art shows and better serve the community. Thank you for your donation!
